This is a full time positions with 8 hour shifts between 8am and 6pm Monday-Friday.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Technologist:

- Ability to cross train in fluoroscopy, DEXA, and diagnostic x-ray.

- Prepares patients for radiologic procedures, performs radiographs according to established policies and procedures.

- Correlates clinical history with the diagnostic study performed.

- Uses radiation protection and shielding materials in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards.

- Completes necessary paperwork (wet read slips, obtaining previous exam reports) related to the exam performed.

- Identifies source of technical issues and contacts the appropriate person or department for resolution in a timely manner.

- Assists in technical training of students.

- Performs all other duties as assigned.


Back Office Duties:

- Ensures all appropriate paperwork, including any previous exams and reports, have been received prior to putting an exam online to be read.

- Performs secretarial/clerical duties including checking phones messages, sending, and receiving faxes and taking calls for Radiologists.

- Monitor progress of dictations, ensuring exams have been read within the designated time frame.

- Accurately relay exams readings to the ordering physician(s) in a timely manner.

- Demonstrates knowledge of Radiologists call-schedule and monthly schedule for appropriate designation of exams.

- Identifies source of technical issues and contacts the appropriate person or department for resolution in a timely manner.

- Obtain β€œPrior” imaging and reports from outside facilities corresponding to the upcoming worklist as directed.

- Performs all other duties as assigned

-Burning compact discs of patient exam results and reports.

-Loading outside exam discs to PACS as delivered or requested

-Answering phone calls and sending faxes relative to patient films and reports.

-Preparation and mailing of out-of-town films back to their locations.

-Receive and make calls relative to wet readings and dictated outside/inside film readings.

-Performs other tasks requested by the supervisor.





Requirements

EDUCATION:

High school degree or equivalent. Completion of accredited course in radiologic technology and maintain current Florida DOH licensure. Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Must maintain ongoing continuing education requirements. Current CPR certification.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of one year experience and/or training in radiologic technology program.

KNOWLEDGE:

1. Knowledge of radiography policies and procedures.

2. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform x-ray testing.

3. Knowledge of radiology equipment, including safety hazards common to radiology.

SKILLS:

1. Skill in positioning patients properly.

2. Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying appropriate supervisor.

3. Ability to communicate clearly and apply written instructions and standardized work practices.

4. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and patients.

5. Good Communication skills in keeping with professional, medical communication.

6. Good understanding of computer systems and PACS, good basic computer and clerical skills.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:

Combination of standing 4-6 hours per day, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and transferring activities. Must be able to use correct body mechanics to assist patients appropriately. Occasional stress from multiple requests.

ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sometimes works in close quarters. Exposure to radiation, communicable diseases, body fluids, and other conditions common to radiology office setting.
