Position Overview

Under the direction of the Charge Diagnostic Imaging Technologist or Designate, the Senior MRI Technologist, in addition to the duties of the general duty MRI Technologist, is responsible for performing a variety of MRI procedures within established parameters that require independent judgement and initiative in delivery of MRI services for diagnosis. The Senior MRI technologist performs direct patient care and technological, administrative and operational support functions. The incumbent will maintain a safe environment in accordance with professional and provincial guidelines and ensure compliances with quality assurance programs and maintain standards put forth by Accreditation. Functions are conducted in accordance with the Mission and Values of Shared Health.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years recent related work experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Must be a graduate of an approved and accredited MRI Training Program.
  • MRI Safety Training is an asset.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Certified in Magnetic Resonance Imaging with CAMRT.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Imaging Technology Program, eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) and registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (C.A.M.R.T.) within three months of hire. 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Microsoft Office programs preferred.
  • Good knowledge of RIS/PACS.
  • Workplace Health and Safety program or training preferred.
  • Organize and prioritize department duties with duties associated with the Senior Technologist position.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in advanced knowledge of MR physics.
  • Good knowledge of MRI theory and practical.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Follow oral and written instructions precisely with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a Team member.
  • Proficient Analytical skills.
  • Work under pressure.
  • Ability to provide excellent patient care and communication skills in a clinical, and education setting.
  • Mature and professional manner.
  • Maintains confidentiality with all information entrusted to the position.
  • Ability to perform duties as described.

 

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
