PURPOSE STATEMENT


Performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging exams of designated anatomical areas as ordered/directed, according to established protocols.

                   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Review requisitions, check and prepare equipment and supplies.
  • Identify and screen patients for possible allergies to contrast materials and metal in body.
  • Explain procedure to patient, position patient on table and use appropriate coil for exam.
  • Schedule and/or Reschedule patients as needed.
  • Review/evaluate completed images for quality, completeness and type of test ordered, provide histories to radiologist for complete diagnosis.
  • Monitor patient's condition during and after exam to ensure patients safety.
  • Record/label images in sequence and with patient identification and other information required by the Radiologist to make an accurate diagnosis.
  • Enter exams in the Radiology Information System and PACS.
  • Comply with established department policies, procedures, objectives, and quality.
  • Attend in-service and other meetings as required.
  • Perform duties of Radiologic Technologist as needed.
  • Send images to cloud system.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Diagnostic Imaging Director.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
  • ARRT registry in Radiology required and ARRT registry in MRI is preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
  • Current BLS is required. 

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 10 hours a day.
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
  • Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
  • Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
  • Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
  • Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to life and/or carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
